A Big Daily Doses of Art Catchup + Dump for the Rest of December
The Daily Doses of Art are still happening on my end, but I obviously took a break from posting because when more life happens, I have to pause some things and this is a great thing to pause.
So, below is a list of some of the Daily Doses of Art since I last posted. And I’m going to try to keep one running list for each month to see if that will make tracking my Daily Doses of Art a little simpler.
This is a lovely daily practice (when I do it!) that helps me review my day and choose one art encounter to share, but writing and life and all kinds of wonderful and exhausting things sort of took over.
But here we are. Let’s catch up on some daily doses of art. I’ll fill in the blank spaces over the next few days and try to jump back in to sharing daily starting NOW (December 20).
December 5-18: This month has been full of writing and family time and a ton of Advent music and Christmas music and good books. I wish I had taken more notes on the specifics for each day, but know I’ve been putting myself in the way of art. Promise!
December 19: Tonight I watched Love Actually then Notting Hill because why not.
December 20: I hung out with the painting Winter Landscape featured over at today’s Spiritual Direction for Writers Daily Nourishment offering for a few minutes before diving into a long writing session.
December 21-23: I read What We Can Know by Ian McEwan and I have so many thoughts!
December 24: We had our big family celebration meal tonight and everyone brought a poem to share, which was really nice. I read “Christmas Eve” by Christina Rossetti.
December 25: One of my favorite new-ish traditions is listening to all of Handel’s Messiah through Christmastide beginning on Christmas Day. I listened on and off for a few hours while traveling to Boston this afternoon.
December 26: Lots of art at the Boston Athenaeum and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Lots of books at two bookstores.
December 27: More good art at the Boston Athenaeum—Allan Rohan Crite, primarily—before flying back to Birmingham tonight.
December 28: While traveling to Memphis to visit family, I listened to the Mrs. Dalloway audiobook.
December 29: Started bingeing the last two seasons of Emily in Paris, and you are free to judge me for this, if you like.
December 30: More Emily in Paris, more Handel’s Messiah.
December 31: Tim and I went on a day trip road trip to Nashville for a few reasons, one of which was to see the Paul McCartney photo exhibition one more time.
