A Daily Dose of Art: Joan Mitchell’s Bonjour Julie

When I was at the museum yesterday for the book launch event, I went to see one of my art friends, Joan Mitchell’s Bonjour Julie. I hung out with the painting before the reading and after the reading. I took some notes that I just reviewed, and now I’m thinking about how interesting it was to be with the painting after listening to Ashley Jones read some of her poems. Since Mitchell said more than once that her landscape paintings were more about how the landscapes made her feel, I tried to view the painting from a perspective of how the poems made me feel.
