A Daily Dose of Art: A Book Launch Event for Lullaby for the Grieving by Ashley M. Jones

Since I wanted to attend the reading and book launch for Lullaby for the Grieving by Ashley M. Jones at the Birmingham Museum of Art, so I woke up early and got on the road to head north on I-65.

I’m so glad I was able to attend this gathering, hear some of Ashley’s poems, and catch up with a few friends who were also there.

You should definitely buy this book of poems and read it.

Here’s one of her poems from the book that was published by The Atlantic (!!!).

"Ashley M. Jones's poems are at once history, sermons, and soul songs. With gorgeous imagery, tender attention, and abundant love she weaves a tapestry of the Black South that is as beautiful as it is honest and heart-wrenching. A truth-teller in verse, Jones reaches into the past to teach us courage in the present. I highly recommend this important book."
