And here’s everything I’ve recorded since I launched this public accounting of artful encounters.
Keeping track of my doses of art is a lovely daily practice (when I do it!) that helps me review or anticipate my day and choose one art encounter to share here. I usually have multiple art encounters each day, but it’s simpler to include one.
April 1: I went to a Zoom book launch gathering for the book Dirt Church and started reading this lovely book.
April 2: I looked at a lot of art by Laura James.

April 7: I looked at a bunch of great art on the walls of the Hotel Chelsea. I splurged and stayed there for two nights before moving to a less expensive hotel near my writing workshop. The Chelsea shows up in some of my research and writing for another book I’m working on so it was totally worth it. I was also able to have a solo retreat while there which was fantastic.
April 8: I saw the show Every Brilliant Thing while in New York. What a gift!
April 9: So much good art today at The Whitney! And I looked at more art on the walls of the Chelsea while taking an afternoon tour with William, one of the doormen who knows all the things.
